Is there a way to finalize an dvd-r that was recorded on aToshiba D-VR4XSU which crapped out before I could finalize them. I noe have a Toshiba and it wont playback or finalize. However the remote from the old recorder also works with the new one. Thanks for any help. RayL
You might be able to finalize them with ImgBurn.
In ImgBurn, click Tools -> Drive -> Close Track / Session / Disc.
I think I would try to access the data with a recovery tool first, like ISOBuster. But the free version of IsoBuster might not work for this particular type of recording.
Thank you for the info.I’m not sure of what ImgBurn is. Do I get this from the internet to download.I tried Nero and Roxio, but it did’nt work.
ImgBurn is a free burning program. Highly recommended and will not interfere with any other burning programs you might have installed.
Be careful when installing ImgBurn, as there is usually an “add-on” program offered with it, like a browser helper bar or something like that. Just opt out of anything like that when you install ImgBurn.
Click on one of the mirrors at the top of this page to download it: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
And if you want to try the free version of ISOBuster first, you can find it here: http://www.isobuster.com/download.php
That Toshiba D-VR4XSU is a standalone, so it depends on the recording mode you have chosen if the disc can be finalized in your computer drive or not.
