DVD-R 8x vs DVD-r 16x

I have had some bad burns and have been told it is more than likely my media (Memorex DVD+R 16x). I am looking to get Taiyo Yuden. I am wondering if I burn @ 8x should I get 8x DVD-R. Can I burn @ 8x speed onto a 16x DVD-R? And what are “printable” DVD-Rs. All I want to do is burn dvds for playback on my home dvd player. Will I need +Rs if I have a fairly new home dvd player. I have TSSTcorp DVD±RW TS-H653A in my Dell. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

8x rated media is hard to get, and of course you can burn 16x media @12x or 8x. No problem. :iagree:
And what are “printable” DVD-Rs.
These discs have a surface that can be directly printed on using certain inkjet printers.

You can use both, DVD+R and DVD-R, just as you like
