yup, it’s true! And tell you a secret, all those DVD-R 4X are also 8X. So don’t buy 8X because they are actually 100% identical to 4X media. They do this to make more money out of you.

1st of all, it’s not a secret. If it is, then it’s as old as Rome. The same was with CDRs - 4x could be burnt @8-16x ( 24-32x in some cases ), 8x-16x @ 40x, 40x @52x. As for 8x DVDR media, in a number of cases it’s cheaper than 4x.

The article is actually about both DVD-R and DVD+R, but mainly about DVD+R.
