I currently have a Sony DVP S360 DVD home player. I am looking to copy DVDs and convert AVI movies to DVD so I can play them in my home DVD player.
I have a Matshita DVD burner (MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ120) so far I have been able to burn movies on Sony (D21) & Imation (CMC) DVD+Rs 16x. I can play these movies in numerous computers but not my DVD player.
I have a load of movies my friend has burned for me. Philips, Maxell,& Staples DVD+R have played in my home DVD player. The Philips was a CMC, the Staples was a Moser Baer. Sorry I can't remember the exact media codes.
TDKs, some Maxell, Memorex and Fuji haven't played in my home DVD player.
From what I have been able to gather, I have learned:
A. despite the brands DVDs can be made by different firms causing different compatibilities.
B. I can't change my DVD+rs to DVD ROM (so my home DVD player will play them) because you can't change the bit settings in a Matshita burner.
C. The easiest thing to do is to buy a new DVD player that will any DVD.
Assuming I am correct in my thinking and C. is the easiest and best option, could you please tell me what affordable, reliable home DVD player can do this? Yes I have check the hardware section of this site. I have found 3 players for sale close to me that seem reasonable.
Pioneer Multi-Format DivX DVD Player DV300K
Toshiba 1-Disc Up-Converting DVD Player (SD6000)
JVC HDMI DVD Player XVN650
Opinions on the DVD players and my line of logic please?
