My old dvd player is more or less dead. I picked up a Philips dvp 5140 today to replace it, it was on sale at Bestbuy for $38.
UpsideIt plays any dvd I throw at it
Downsidepoor quality video (bitrate is 1/2 of my old sony)video aspect ratio - it is playing some widescreen movies as fullscreen, changing the aspect ratio on the dvd player doesn't help.
So I am going to return the player and wanted your opinion of 2 other players in the same price range.

Toshiba SD 4100http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10100847&catid=20208
I would go with the toshiba as it has a s-video hook up and the sony does not
how is the toshiba for playing any DVD±R?
The reviews at Amazon are not good.
