I recently purchased a DVD, & it started out OK on my Koss DVD player I bought in 2004-05, & after about 5 minutes, everything seemed to play in slow motion with the sound going at normal speed, so I took out the disc & tried it on my PC DVD drive, had windows media player open DVD but it could not play the disc, stated was an unknown format.
Try VLC, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. If VLC won’t play it then something else is wrong.
Original DVDs needs a decryption software to be played on a PC.
If I’m not wrong, VLC player has no decryption software included, so you need a fostware like PowerDVD to read DVD movies. Too bad, it is not a free software

For VLC, DVD decryption is done through the libdvdcss library.
oops I didn’t know :o
I tried the DVD in a portable DVD player I have that plays just about anything, & the same thing happened with it, so I think the DVD may be bad
