DVD not playing on DVD-player

I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right forum but give it a try.
Some weeks ago, while on vacation in Spain, joined an organized trip, it was filmed, the movie was burned on DVD and I bought it.
Home again in The Netherlands, it turned out that the DVD won’t play on my stand-alone DVD-player (attached on TV) but it did play on my PC.
What can be the problem?

Possible problems can be authoring failures and most likely a mediatype problem with your dvd player.
Maybe it’s on +R and your player only likes -R…

Many standalone players are very particular about what type of media is played in them. Neither one of mine supports +R, but yet with Verbatim 16x +r media, sometimes they will play in my units. Many forums recommend buying the el-cheap play all dvd units. I spent $300 for mine, yet my fathers $39.00 unit plays everything I burn. When I think I have a bad burn or bad media, I have him try it before I totally give up on it…
