DVD Multiple Issues that may be linked

Hi,
I am having major issues with my CD/DVD Drive.

Issue 1) Doesn’t load any DVD’s/CD’s, it seems that when i put a disk in it shows that the disc is inserted but i cannot open it. I can explore it fine but i cannot open any contents within it.

Issue 2) DVD drive doesn’t right click eject when a disc is inserted in. I have to press the button for it to eject.

Issue 3) When i do take out the disc it shows in my computer that the disc is still inside even when i put in another disc.

Issue 4) this is all fixed if i have no disc in the drive and restart the computer. then it goes back to issue 1 if i put in another disc.

Some Notes:

  • Sometimes when i try to open a disc it gives me errors like,

F:\ is not a valid Win32 application.
or it just freezes up entirely when i click on the DVD icon.

I did however manage to load Sims 3 to load the only disc i am able to load. Thinking that was the issue i uninstalled it and now it doesnt read the Disc.

I did a complete spyware, Trojan, antivirus check. Although there may still be some, not entirely sure.

Anyways i have a Sony DRU-V200A

@ mooshi,

Welcome to the Forum.

For troubleshooting suggest installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program. After installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program Burn a Disk. After Burning a Disk then post the ImgBurn Log File for analysis.

That isn’t a very definitive statement. You either have a Spyware and/or Trojan or you don’t. You need to take definitive positive steps to ensure that ALL possible Spyware and/or Trojan are TOALY removed from your Windows Operating System. A Windows Operating System cannot function and/or operate correctly with a Spyware and/or Trojan.

Hi thanks for the reply

sorry about the Trojan and spy ware issue. I did check for it and nothing came up unusual and anything that did come up i fixed.
I used AVG, Advanced System care, Spy bot and Ad aware to check for anything that could stop my DVD drive from working. and afetr the check my DVD drive is still doing the same thing.
