DVD Media - Is it good enough for Long Term Archiving?

This question has been bugging me for while now. Upto now i’ve used Quality CD-R’s for all my long-term data storage (TY, Kodak, etc) but for reasons of storage space & convienence would prefer to move to DVD’s for archiving.

Just like to hear some opinions of wether the Quality DVD's are of the same standard as Taiyo Yuden CD-R's for such a purpose?

          Thanks in Advance.

We have no evidence either way. I’m still not sure about CDR’s either, ask me in 20 years.
Considering the rather questionable quality of most DVD media around today, I think the answer is NO. But if you have the good sense to buy a LiteOn drive and use KProbe, you can at least monitor the health of the discs and act appropriately.
