DVD FAB error 112, DVD+R DL will not write

I am using an
Hardware = internal Sony DVD RW DW-Q58A…
Software = anything & everything…have tried DVD fab platinum (currently), pinnacle studio (purchased), Clone DVD, Nero, ConvertXDVD…
Media = Memorex DVD+R DL, HP DVD+R DL

Problem = Every program I use says that I do not have a compatible media in the drive. DVD Fab platinum gives me an error code of 112, which is write protection (these are not RW disks)… After looking at the log, i get a specific error of **052700 (write protected)… I have a laptop so disconnecting the power to the drive isn’t as easy as a desktop…other than that I have went through all of the steps to resolve the issue…I have burnt an HP DVD+R DL disk before…However, every program I try says that the disk is not the correct media…I have read and read on these forums trying to find a solution…I just don’t get why I can burn with Memorex DVD-R, but not DVD+R DL…I have burnt DVD’s (DVD-5) and CD’s within the last couple of days, but it won’t recognize this new disk… The main reason I wanted the DL was so that I could rip an entire movie (menus, etc.) onto one disk.

ANY SOLUTIONS YOU CAN THINK OF WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

It is easy: Get Verbatim DL media.

Yep…if several different programs are giving errors, it’s probably the media. Especially if it’s 8x DL with that burner.

For max compatibility, try 2.4x Verbatim +R DL (MKM 001), made in Singapore.

It’s common for non Verbatim DL media to simply not work. Verbatim is the best for DL media and is supported very well.

Ya, I just don’t get the error message of “write protected” i guess…and since every big box store in the country uses chinese suppliers, I can’t find a pack of Jap or Singapore Verbatim…been to office depot and wal-mart, guess ill try another…

p.s. anybody wanna buy a spool of 40 dollar coasters?? at least i got some ammo for drunken zombies

Also, I just switched over from the “all-in-one” applications to PGCedit w/ ImgBurn…is this the best route? and i got the same error code in my ImgBurn w/ these Memorex DVD+POS

IMG burn is one, if not the best program for writing image files. I’d use that for image burning instead of other programs.

im having the same problem. even though im using verbatim dvd+r dl’s, its still not working on my sony dw r56a drive

I’m not familiar with sony drives, is it a newer one (made in last year or year and a half)?

I think that a DW[B]Q[/B]56a is not a DW[B]R[/B]56a…

Both seems to be SLIMTYPE drives, and they are picky!

I had the same problem using a Sony DVD RW DW-Q58A with firmware UYS4 and TDK DVD+R DL 8x disks. All software fails to burn whether it be Nero, k3b or GnomeBaker with the ‘write protected’ error. So I tried Verbatim 2.4x speed and had no problems, successfully burning a DVD image (with k3b). Not sure if the drive is just fussy or the media is at fault.

TDK DL media is the problem!

Hmmm crappy slimline laptop drives suck. This is most likely why it won’t burn the Verbatim.

If you have an internal PC based drive that can do DL, I’d give it a shot.

Welcome to the forum

It would seem the drive has no support for that media - hence the Available Write Speed having no entries and the 1x burn speed.

I’d update the firmware for your drive, but ideally use Verbatim media.

Edit: Just checked the 1.02 firmware…no support for that MID. CMC MAG D01, D02 and D04 are supported, though…just not D03.
