I am working on a DVD encoding project and the speeds are,
not as advertized when I read April’s Maximum PC Magazine.
I have TS-H653F D300 version firmware upgraded from D200 firmware.
I patched the firmware with Samsung Patch Utility 3.4.7 and removed riplock, as well as increasing both read speeds, I just selected all the boxes.
Maximum PC tested a SH-S223 with hacked firmware and got a 8:13 time out of ripping a DL dvd with AnyDVD. The SH-S223 is supposed to be the non OEM version of the TS-H653F. Otherwise I have nearly Identical hardware setup. E7200 processor, but no extra video card.
I am currently getting 15min per episode using DVD43 with Handbrake encoding to the PS3 preset with the constraint of 150MB per episode.
There are 7 episodes per disc so according to MaxPC this should only be taking 1 min 10 sec per episode.
Why am I not getting these results?
Are you using the same video that they used in their test? If you aren’t ripping batman, then you need to remember that video files have different lengths (times or file sizes)… That would account for the difference.
