OK, noob question.
When you buy a new optical drive, is it 100% healthy for you to immediately use it at full speed, or should you be conservative with it in the beggining? (like we are with a new car engine)
I tend to go the reverse way, and "break in" a new drive with a full speed transfer rate test on a long disk, followed by a thrash of seek testing.
Then, if it's a writer, a test write, and media scan if it can do it.
I think theres no reason to. It was build and tested in a factory so if it passed there tests, i dont see why you would need 2 "run it in"
