[qanda]This thread is about the NEC ND-6500A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hello all, I just noticed my dvd-rw drive turns to cd drive when I put in a DVD+r. Roxio shows 4.7 gb available, but “My Computer” shows 0 bytes written and 0 bytes available. I found this happens after installing SP 2. Oh, I’m running XP Pro, AMD Athelon, NVidia display, and a NEC ND 6500a w/2.23 in an HP pavillion. Any Idea how to fix this. Thanks

This is the way it’s supposed to be. XP doesn’t support writing to blank DVD discs, with the exception of DVD-RAM, natively. Continue using Roxio or other standalone burning programs, and don’t worry about trying to make it possible to write to DVD media in Windows Explorer.
