Hi all
I found your wonderful site after the Google search that I had due to a problem I still have. I use a lot of years Nero without any problem. I bought a LG sata DVDRW GSA-H62N before 10 months. Initially everything was fine .After some months the DVDRW drive was disappearing during the dvd writing procedure or some minutes after during the data verification procedure .To appear the drive needs reboot of the system.I haven’t solve this problem yet. I suppose that one application (or the intel sata drivers) work in contrary with Nero. I updated Nero from version 8.2.8.0 to 8.3.2.1 with out any result. I send the DVDRW to the shop I have bought for checking ,but they found it very good and they haven’t any problem with the burning process. I try to avoid format because I need a lot of days to install again all those programs I use. The log file is the following:

Verbatim, Ricoh & TY.

I have been used Maxell for 3 years with out problems (with other DVDRW).You mean that they are not good media or the device not works efficiently with Maxell???

The thing is with Maxell…they change manufacturers of their discs quite a lot, so one spindle of discs from one manufacturer may work fine, but the next spindle you buy could be made by someone else…and not work so well.

Have you tried a different SATA cable, or SATA port (if only to rule that out as a cause of the drive disappearing)? We have the H62N and it works perfectly with good media

However…the machine we have our H62N installed in is set to IDE compatible mode in the BIOS, so that may be something to consider if none of the other measures help.

With Verbatim and check in bios my next report…
