Here's the Usual .....troubleshoots ...

Let's check something .....

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties > Auto-Play tab

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'DVD Movie" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"
OR
Set only for your DVD Player ( WinDVD/Power DVD )
- be sure to close your 'Player' before opening 1Click

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'Blank CD" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"

While here in the DVD Drive 'Properties"
Do you have a "DLA" tab ?
= Disable DLA

Here's some Help - with maybe ... reducing the load ....

I'd recommend that you [Try using EnditALL while Copying/Burning](http://forum.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/showthread.php?t=15256)
... to free up your resources
... You might be surprised at what's running - in the background

Open [Advanced Windows Care Personal](http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/index.html)> Tools > Start-Up Manager
( it's completely free and a very recommended clean-up program )

You will be presented with a listing of the Programs
- Programs that are designated to Start-Up with Windows
- and Descriptions of Each ( Click on Selection )

Any Start Up Entry - Referring to any DVD/CD Software ?
Windows Media Player ?
ITunes ?

If So = UN Check it

This only Disables the Program - from the List
- Designated to 'Start-Up' - with Windows
You would - still - be able to 'manually' start the Program(s) - when needed

Also ......
UN Check anything - Not Trustworthy
UN Check anything - Not Necessary or Not Preferred
( you may click on an Start-Up item > Select Disable - If you prefer )
>> Apply
> Reboot

or -
You could also , Go into Msconfig - and Deselect unneeded Programs
- from your 'Start Up"
This will help a lot .....

…Yes I do happen to have nero installed on my computer. I use it quite often but it takes so long to transcode.

When this started happening it would transcode but not burn and ended up with like six coasters.

Im going to download the programs you have listed to see if that helps any.

Thanks for all your help so far!

I have downloaded all 3 programs that you recommended. I have done something similar to cleaning up all the junk before but wasnt as easy as the WindowsCare program was.

I did notice that I have a few nero things starting up with the computer and I quickly disabled them. I did the full cleanup with WindowsCare. I downloaded EndItAll but I didnt use anything because what I read seemed that I only needed to use it while I was burning a DVD.

I also downloaded ImgBurn. You asked me to post a copy of the clipboard so here it is:

I read the post you listed about the filters and it seems like some very useful information to someone who would know what two programs filters collide. (if my understanding of it is correct).

I do not have any Roxio stuff on my computer I dont think. Unless it came with the computer software because I reformatted about six months ago and I am very aware of what I put on and take off!

Hopefully all of this information has helped you to help me! Thanks for the links to much useful software. Hopefully we/you can find a solution soon! :frowning:

You need to Update 1Click PRO
Current Version is 3.1.8.3

You have CloneDVD2 installed
So …
Where is AnyDVD ?

-or- … What are you using for a Decrypter ?

You should have it 'bronzed'

There is a Driver File in your System32 Folder

  • sharing the drvmcdb - name (similar)
If you removed this Driver File - Then Windows would not boot

However

  • We the referencing drvmcdb Filter in your CD-ROM Drivers
It’s more likely that the presence of this Filter - if active
  • would cause the BSOD

>> Create a backup of your registry
> Open IMGBurn
> Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order
>> Select “DRVMCDB”
> Click “Remove Selected Filter”
>> Click “Remove Selected Filter”
> Click "OK ".
>> Reboot

Keep in mind the programs that installed those filters
will no longer work properly.
Certain Functions of SonicMyDVD may not be available

A new DVD Burner would help immensely

  • that may be 95% of the problem - if not all
Your burner is old enough - that it may just have given up the ghost

Your HP 200j had a Max Burn of 2.4x
That must be like watching grass grow
…Let me put it this way :
A 8x Burn takes 8 min +/-
A 12x Burn takes 6
A 16x burn takes 5
A 22x burn takes 4 min

Really , Do yourself a favor and get a new burner
You can’t even fill your gas tank for $30.00

I did try to address this :
Music match effects other burning software but not sure if it effects one click or not???
It’s best - to at least -
just to Disable this from Windows Start-Up
So that it’s not Running in the background

I saw this Filter

  • but I felt it more important to address the more probable Issues - First

The OP definitely needs a New Burner
I’d say … that would be 'Priority One"

Alright. I tried to delete the filter and then burn. Same error. I went ahead and ordered a 22x Lg Lightscribe off of the link you provided for like 28 bucks. Not bad. Thank you! Hopefully that will solve all of the issues. As soon as I get it, it will be in and I will let you know what happens! Thanks for all of your help so far!

Alright,
Got the burner and everything is in. Before I had a dvd burner and a cd rom drive. I removed the cd rom and took the older burner in its spot. Then I put the new one in on top. Ran the new one as the master and old one as the slave. Got an error again. Googled the error and found a quick fix by unplugging the slave (old dvd burner) and everything works perfectly. So all is good. It is near pointless to have another drive anyways because you cant do two things at once on this computer. :sad:Thanks for the link to that site in finding me a new drive for cheap. You’re awesome!

I’m glad to hear that worked for you !
Excellent !

If you’d like , Please post the now successful logs for some 'follow-up"

Using one drive is fine
The only point in having Two Drives

  • Is one of convenience
Using one Drive to read - One to Burn
  • means you can Place both the original and the Blank
  • and not have to swap Discs midstream

In the Future , If you’d like to add another Drive
I’d suggest getting a Samsung SH-202 to use as the Reader
( Samsungs are Faster readers than the LGs )

Your Issue with Both drives being connected

  • May have been simply that the HP 200 Drive was Bad

You might also need a New 80 wire IDE Cable
( if you didn’t replace the Old one )
The IDE cable may also be bad
IDE Cables are cheap ($10.00+/- … or less )

Were the Original Drives - Originally - set as Master / Slave ?

  • or - As Cable Select ?

Your New LG GH22 is UDMA 4
Your Old HP 200 was UDMA 2
This also might present some Issues

  • being connected to the same IDE
Your HP would have probably kept your GH22 at UDMA 2

Food for thought

-anyway-

You should love your LG GH22
I have one
It’s an excellent Burner

There it is. This shows that the ultra dma mode is 2. Who cares? It works and it burned it in 4 minutes!

But anyways, I use WinAvi Converter to convert avi to dvd then burn with one click. Using Nero usually takes me pretty much all night to do! So I only do that if I am going to bed and dont plan on using the computer anymore that night!

I have been reading that WinAvi is not the best for quality but it is for speed! I recently got ConvertXtoDVD and that did the whole process overnight. So that took forever too!

WinAvi usually takes about an hour to convert. If this is the fastest converter out, in most instances, is the only way to speed it up to buy more ram. I was looking into getting another gig of ram since I have 512mb right now. So stuff doesnt run so smooth. I know I need a new computer since this one is WAY outdated. But it works pretty good.

If ram is a good option of speeding up pretty much EVERYTHING on my computer, can you give me a link to some sites where I can find a gig for pretty cheap? I looked on new egg. BTW, its pc2100. If you dont do so much of the computer hardware as you do software, just let me know. But your help, or anyone’s for that matter, would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all your help!

Open 1Click -
Right Click on the 1Click Interface > Settings Menu

>>Set= Your “Preferred Burn Speed” at 1/2 of your Media’s rating
ie: IF You’re using 16x Media = Set for 8x ;
8x Media = Set for 4x

If using Good quality Media -
My GH22NP20 burns Perfect Burns every time at 12x
Burns good at 16x , 20x and 22x - too

  • but the most consistent / best Quality Burns are at 12x

>>UN Check= Enable media stats collection - VSO

Yes , Definitely Add Some RAM
It will help with everything on your Computer
512Mb is minimal
I run 4 GB ( over-kill )

You can Go here :
Scan your Computer
the Scan will tell you : What you have > against > What you could have

( I’m not recommending Crucial RAM necessarily … just using their scanner  )

Then … Take the Scan Result Specs
… and Cross Reference here :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductConfigurator.aspx?category=17&name=Memory-Configurator
( Newegg has some really good Prices  )

Your main concern about the Speed in the Conversion

  • Is your Processor
The Faster the Processor - the Faster the Conversion
Adding some RAM should help a little
  • As would closing any Unnecessary Background Programs ( EnditALL )

An Hour is Normal , I think

  • for this type of Conversion - even with the fastest CPUs

You should also give 1ClickDVDMovie a try

Honestly , I don’t mess with Downloads/Conversions
I stick to the DVDs
I can give you some Computer pointers

  • but I don’t have any experience with the ‘Conversions’

Which - HP/Model : Processor/@speed - are you using in this Computer ?

Wow over 4gb of ram. Must be nice.

My computer is an HP Pavilion 764n. (yes its very old…2002…but works great for everything that I need to use it for). Thats the reason why I havent bought a new one yet. Just looking to install some upgrades.

My processor is an Intel Pentium 4 at 2.66ghz. So very slow compared to todays core duo running at 2.0 x2. It runs pc2100 ddr ram. Cheapest on newegg was 30. But will the cheapest work? You get what you pay for!

I will also try out that 1click movie program. I have nero 7 but not a big fan as the user interface took a while to get used to in the individual programs. So maybe that will replace nero for me. We will see!

Thanks,
Mike

Another question. I have been hearing about this overclocking thing. If you could explain that as best you can and tell me if that would be a good idea for a little bit more speed.

I ran the scan and it told me that my maximum capacity is 1gb so I guess that was a good thing you gave me that. I just dont really understand why you cant put a 1gb memory whatever into the slot. Do they only hold a certain size? Or is that all that I am capable of is an additional 512?

Thanks!
Mike

The definition of the RAM - that will be Supported

  • lies with the motherboard Specs

You might want to Verify this with HP Support

  • but in my experience - HP support will know less about it than you do

Will you notice a Difference between 512 and 1024 ?
Absolutely
Will you notice a Difference between 1024 and 2048 ?
Maybe a little - depending on the Usage
The greatest increase of performance will any step Up from 512

I’d hate to advise you wrong

  • both the Crucial and Newegg sites say 1GB max
    This information -may- be incomplete
    HP says 2GB max

I wouldn’t spend too much for ‘high speed’ RAM

  • for this Computer
I would doubt that it would be utilized to it’s potential anyway
Your least expensive route would be to just add 1-512mb stick
You might get a little better performance by adding two new matching 512 sticks
  • Or , Go for broke and add 2-1GB sticks

I’m not sure what I would do in your shoes
Adding ODDs and HDDs are one thing

  • You can always move them to a new Computer
The RAM can only be used with this type of Motherboard
  • so It will be left with the Computer when you finally move on
However , If there is only a Difference of $5-$10
    I wouldn’t be Cheap
… but it appears that your selections for PC2100 are somewhat limited

$60.00 for 2GB isn’t too bad though
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141217
My OCZ Plat - was about $45 per GB (+/-)

There is also the option
of checking your local ‘Mom and Pop’ computer /repair shops
You might be able to find a deal on some used RAM

I doubt that your motherboard supports any ‘Overclocking’ - whatsoever
Your P4 is probably being pushed to limits - as it is

I’m in the process of starting to Build a New Computer
My HP a820n / P4 HT @ 3.20Ghz is showing it’s age
looking forward to a Quad
I’ve been looking at cases for a month

  • still haven’t decided … just too many choices @Newegg

Yea I will probably just pick up a 512 from newegg for like 20 bucks. Thats really not bad. And hopefully soon I will get a new cpu. But I dont use it for much except dvds and internet. and now that I have sprints new phone with full internet browsing, I wont use the net as much anymore. So other than writing documents, which can be done on probably any computer that runs, and burning dvds, I dont really use it much! But the ram would help me out and I might be able to scrape up 20 bucks from somewhere…! but I really appreciate all of your help and thanks for everything. Good luck with the new computer!
