I've been burning backups of my dvd collection. They all seem to play fine. However, recently I decided to scan them with nero and/or kprobe. My scans (both nero and kprobe) seem lousy. PI errors up to 1000 in some places. PI failures seem OK, but there always seem to be spikes that trash my quality score (some are 50 and below, some 0).
My sig is:
DFI lanparty B with XP2500 barton
1gb Buffalo PC3200 DDR
Radeon 9800 pro 128mb ddr video
200 gb seagate ata hd master
120 gb samsung ata hd slave
Liteon 167 dvd-rom
Pioneer 107D f/w 1.18 region free
Thermaltake 560w ps
XP pro sp1
dvd shrink 3.2 to rip/shrink; nero 6.6 to burn
media: ritek 4x to 8x; prodisc 8x (f01)
I rip shrink files to a separate partition on my hard drive
Do you guys recommend using a separate hard drive to transfer files for burning? I've tried shutting down all background apps.
Is it possible my burner is the s...ts? I checked some old backups burned with a Pioneer 106d and I saw the same type of scans.
Thanks for any and all input.
