Dvd burner doesn't show recording tab

Hi all

Been trying for months to get my dvd burner to write to disks, even tried an external drive trying out solutions I’ve found on the net to no avail.

Is there anyone with a solution here for me?

This fault appeared suddenly for no apparent reason

I’ve checked device manager and the dvd is there but there isn’t any reference to an atapi controller or such
I think the drive is a sata

So I downloaded imgburn and here’s the log file

W 13:39:27 Drive J:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.
I 13:39:27 Initialising SPTI…
I 13:39:27 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices…
E 13:39:30 CreateFile Failed! - Device: ‘\.\CdRom0’ (E:)
E 13:39:30 Reason: Access is denied.
W 13:39:30 Errors were encountered when trying to access a drive.
W 13:39:30 This drive will not be visible in the program.
E 13:39:30 You need Administrative privileges to use SPTI.
W 13:39:30 No devices detected!

Thanks for any help

@ den1,

Welcome to the Forum.

If your undisclosed Optical Drive is in fact a SATA Device since some SATA Controller chips don’t support Optical Drives have you ensured your particular SATA Controller chip supports an Optical Drive? Have you ensured that you have your SATA Controller is correctly configured to support a SATA Optical Drive? Have you installed the most current up to date Driver for your SATA Controller?

For troubleshooting purposes suggest visiting the ImgBurn Web Site (http://www.imgburn.com) and download the newest most current up to date version of the ImgBurn software program. After installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program Burn a Disk. Then post the complete full entire ImgBurn Log File for analyst and not a partial truncated incomplete Log File like you posted in your #1 posting in this thread.

Thanks for your prompt reply

It’s actually my sister’s computer which I was helping her with
I was comparing device manager on hers with mine and I’ve
got ide ata/atapi controllers listed on mine but on her computer
(different make) there is none

But as she has more information to hand I’ve asked her to post
on the imgburn forum

Thanks again for your reply
