I am running XP SP2—I use to burn dvd’s, then 1 day I pop in a blank dvd and it tells me that it is a cd drive. I installed a new burner and in “my computer” it shows a dvd burner and it will play a dvd movie. BUT, as soon as i put in a blank, it says i have a cd drive. I uninstalled the driver and rebooted. It still does it. PLEASE HELP!!!
This is not a problem. If you can write to or read from the dvd, don’t worry about what windows thinks…
As Harley2ride said, this isn’t a problem. Both my DVD burners do that…I just open Nero and burn as normal.
It’s that easy? I will let you know tonight, I am at work till 11:30pm. Thank you for your feedback
Thank you. You were right. But (there’s always a but), the first movie I tried to burn was Bewitched. I got errors from both dvd shrink and decrypter and was unable to burn. I was able to burn other movies. Then i tried Cinderella. In shrink (188.8.131.52) i got a Data Error (cyclic redundancy check) and in decrypter (184.108.40.206) at 35% into it I got :
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 28 00 00 15 06 40 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read(10) - Sector: 1377856
Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 11 05 00 00 00 00

I don’t mind going out to purchase it because my wife collects disney movies. I was just curious if this is something they do to prevent from burning or if it’s my software that is not working properly. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Glad to hear it’s all OK! As for the Bewitched problem - take a look around the Copy Movies forum, there’s been plenty of discussion about how to back it up. Not too sure about Cinderella - try searching said forum.
