Thank you for the response about burning. I am new to the technical details about burning.
I have done the jitter and PIE tests with DVDInfoPro; and have to figure out what they mean. I ran the transfer rate test with Nero CD-DVD Speed on the Sony drive, LG is next. As these are $30 drives, can I not scan them to evaluate what was burned into them? Are the tests available to me (based on my hardware) only able to test the drive for speed consistency or vibration?
Is there a likely advantage in using a three year old Sony DVD RW DRU-810A 1.0f ; about 300 burns; over an LG HL-DT-STDVD-RAM GSA-H55N; 6 months old with 50 burns?
I buy TY DVDs and CDs, store in the dark, parallel to the ground, individual jewel cases, bulk sealed in plastic, and am looking for them to be usable in twenty years.
