DVD-Burn Process Failed

vbimport

#1

Using Nero Express with Memorex CD/DVD.
I can burn CD’s OK.
Two Issues while Burning DVD

  1. While burning DVD I get the message “Burning Process Failed”
    2…When I add files to be burned such as…“Page 1.jpg” and then “Page 2 & 3 Table of Contents.jpg”
“Page 1” is at the top of the Disc Content list but then “Page 2 & 3” is automatically dropped below Page 199 followed by page 20.
I have a total of 259 .jpeg files. The program has them all out of order as in the above example.

Could someone address my situation as how to get my DVD to burn without error…and…how to get these files into the Disc Content window so they will burn in proper order of Page 1 to Page 259 and not be all out of order and all scrambled up?

Thanks for your consideration and assistance!!!

#2

Memeorex media is highly suspect & not recommended & a likely reason for failure.

At the end of a failed burn you’ll get the option to save a log file. Do so & post it back here.

The resequencing you’re getting on these files is understandable. “Page 10” will come after “Page 1” & before “Page 2”. However, “Page 001”, “Page 002”, “Page 010” etc will be correctly sequenced.

#3

What is the size of all that jpeg’s you have tried to burn??

#4

Tim,
I am using Iomega DVD storage media…I also use Iomega CD storage media.
My Player/Recorder is Memorex
Here is the log file:

CdRomPeripheral : Memorex DVD16+/-DL4RWlD2 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off

This is the biggest problem you have with burning. DMA must be enabled. Have a look at this thread to fix it.

To view things in sequence then yes they must be in a true numerical/alphabetic sequence as I outlined.
I don’t know what’ll happen if the jpegs are in a folder on the DVD as I’ve only ever done them in the root, but I’d guess it will work.

#8

CORRECTION…CORRECTION…CORRECTION… I am using IMATION CD and DVD storage media…
Thanks…

#9

Tim C,
My Primary IDE Channel (0 and 1) was already set to “DMA if Available”.
I changed the Secondary IDE Channel (0 and 1) to “DMA if Available”.
I renumbered all my .jpeg files to be like 001 and 0099.
I then tried again to burn to an Imation DVD and BURN PROCESS FAILED.
Here is the copy and paste of the "Failed Log File"
Thanks again for your assistance and consideration!

DMA is still not enabled.

In the thread I pointed you too it should say about uninstalling the drivers on the IDE channels. Have you done this as it should clear the problem?
BTW this is a no-risk option although it may seem an odd thing to do.

#11

Agree with TimC in general.

But to me it also looks like media compatibility problem. Try with other media, +R’s.
Upgrade Nero. (And please, remove Nero serial before posting next time.)

BTW, this drive is an OEM Litey SOHW-1673.

#12

Could well be a media issue as well but the DMA problem must be resolved first though.

#13

Tim,
Thanks!!!
P.S. What would be my Nero serial number (and where would I find that number) that you would like me to remove before making my next post?
Thanks again,

#14

It starts with “1A20-” and ask an moderator or admin to remove it.

great advice by all! But so many blame media for problems these days and it is usually software and hardware issues/conflicts. Update your BIOS and check your BIOS settings! Then enable DMA in device manager advanced tab! Update your burning software/MOBO drivers if there are any and XP update at the Windows site! Burn cheap media at 4X and good media at 8-12X. Flash your drive with current FW! This updates it with more media and burn speeds! If this all fails, safe boot and clean out your device manager of stuff you no longer have on your computer as well as duplicates. Try your burner on a different cable/IDE port. Make it a master if you have not already done that!

Good luck man!
And what a pain to relabel all those files. I learned the hard way like you! LOL
I just viewed them out of order and claimed I did it that way on purpose! LOL
They should play fine on your stand alone DVD player and some burning software packs with allow you to do a continuos loop!

Chef! Do you get an award at 9000 posts? LOL 7 beers at least for you!

#17

@silverdude. Have you tried to remove InCD and check if this changes anything?

I’ll never argue against that…

But, how do we know “DMA” status is displayed correctly?
When using mobo’s default IDE drivers (like some VIA and nVidia), Nero is not always able to display if DMA is on or off.

off topic
I’ll throw in a beer as well for chef.

We know because the HD is OK & they are all atapi devices not what is seen with Nvidia etc.
Anyway that’s how I’m interpreting things.

#19

Ah, thanks. Time to open a beer now, later.

Uhm, maybe it’s time to perform some tests using Nero CD DVD Speed?
