DVD burn failed.....Error

vbimport

I just recently installed an NEC ND-3500A (firmware 2.18). Nero 6 Ultra Edition with updates to 6.6.0.5 using Nero Vision Express 3. After two attempts at burning to a DVD I receive the same error message: “Burn failed”. The media I was using was: Memorex DVD-R 8x.

Any ideas what is wrong? I was able to burn a data CD with no trouble to a CD-R disk. Thanks.

I viewed the error log and these were the points at which the burn failed:

Could be the disc, try something other than memorex. They sometimes have bad batches. Do you have any TY, Verbatim, Maxell or Ricohjpn discs?

#3

No, I haven’t tried a different media yet. The two attempts that I made, neither disk had visable scratches on them. I have herd of issues with some media, but I thought that Memorex was a good brand name. I just wanted to make sure that my setup and software was configured properly before I blame the disk. There was no driver shipped with the burner nor did I find one on NEC’s web site, so I assumed that none was needed. Windows XP reconized it and everything looks OK.

OK, I’ve tried different media, Verbatim DVD-R (Digital Movie) with the same results! I’m making a lot of coasters! Help, please.

#5

What ripping software are you using?

#6

 SUCCESS FINALLY!!!

After several more attempts and more coasters created, I’ve finally found the problem. I did a search on Google for error code 129 and found alot of people with the same problem! As it turns out I needed to uncheck the burn at once option in the burn properties on the last page using Nero Vision Express 3. I had also tried removing all Nero applications, running their removal and cleanup tools, defraging (harddrive), reinstalling just the main programs (not INCD apparently there are problems here too), But none of this helped. Simply unchecking this option and I was able to burn on the Memorex disks also!

From reading some other posts in a different forum from a Nero employee, this is a known bug in the latest versions of Recode that they will be fixing (IIRC) before the end of January.

I struggled with the same problem a week ago, and was surprised no one else had posted this problem. After numerous failed burns, I finally gave up and rewinded to an older version.

Nero has got to be the buggiest software I’ve ever used…

I’ve had the same problem with my Plextor 716A, and unchecking the “Burn at Once” box didn’t remedy the situation. I also can’t burn to a hard disk folder, for some reason. However, if I burn an image to the hard drive, and then burn that image in Nero, all is well. Whatever … I’m shopping for a different authoring package anyway, as the Vision Express menu options suck.

A word to anyone with this BurnAtOnce problem. NeroVision 3.0.1.27 still has the bug.
