After all, the artists are the ones that these antipiracy measures are created for.

The Artists have never actually been the reason for these actions because at the same time these DRM lawsuits are going on with much news coverage and fanfare many artists are suing their record labels for failing to pay the royalties for YEARS (in one case decades) because while file sharers might be stealing from the record labels
the record labels have been stealing far greater ammounts from the artists…

“file sharing” is their excuse for failing to pay.
