Duplicator dedicated forums

I remember about a year back I stumbled upon a dedicated duplicator forums/msg board. Would anyone know which one I’m talking about?

Right now I have an older Orbit II DVD auto duplicator with some issues, and Microboards wants $300 plus parts, plus return shipping. So if I want to have it looked at by them, its going to cost about $500, when I only spent $600 on this in the first place.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

@ djgizmo,

It would be helpful if you explained in detail exactly what is ‘Wrong’ with your Orbit II DVD auto duplicator. Simply stating “some issues” is not sufficient information for Forum Members to be able to intelligently comment on your above Forum posting.

Unaware of your technical expertise but have you considered making your own Duplicator? There are even a couple of Web Sites that provide Bare Bone Kits that include ‘Instruction Manual’ ->

Thanks for the quick replyu BJKG.
blah, I wrote a whole big thing and now its all gone… (dam college computers)

Anyways, the Orbit II DVD auto duplicator is having a ‘Master Drive Error’. I’ve tried different media (Memorex, HP, TY value, even some brand of Microboards discs.). I’ve swapped out DVD readers from an Orbit II CD duplicator and the same issue persists. I’m at a point where I suspect the controller may be suspect.

Microboards wants to charge an arm and a leg to repair it. but the automation part of it is whats making me lean on getting it repaired.

Long story short, I’m also considering building my own duplicator as you have already guesed.

From your personal experience bjkg, what controller card brand have you had the best luck with? I see the most popular ones seem to be Acard and Wytron.

Also, which DVD writer would you recommend for said controller?

I need a controller that supports a harddrive, and at least 7 targets. That would allow me to produce around 45 DVDs an hour.

This would be my first build into a dedicated duplicator, however I’ve been building computers for a long while and I’d say that I’d feel comfortable doing this as well.

Thanks
Sean

Anyone?

Hello djgizmo,

You might want to consider buying a new robotic duplicator. Runtechmedia’s autolaoder price starts at $499.
