What do you mean by “that standalone”? Also when I check info on the file it shows no access and I am unable to change it.

#4

What else do you mean with “sony dvd recorder” then?

@chef
The initial question is how to copy a UDF DVD on a Mac - not how to copy it on the DVD recorder.
…not to mention the fact you don’t know if it the thread starter’s DVD recorder.

@mmorgan777
Did you finalize the disk in the recorder? If not, go back and do that. That would be the first step in any case.

I’m not a Mac user however, so anything beyond that bit of advice is beyond me. Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 have full support for udf however.

The DVD has been finalized and the os is 10.6.8

No none knows yet what format were used when recording this dvd.

udf is not enough to decide…

The “get info” window says “Universal Disk Format (UDF)” and also says that I have no access! It won’t let me change that.

For UDF various revisions exist. Common is 2.01.

What do you want to change on it?

Please give us more details, is it DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL??
Which size, and which manufacturer?

Could be that the disc were recorded with Packet-Writing mode.
But finalizing the disc first is really necessary to be able to access it otherwise.
