I don’t know what’s making it so difficult for them to pick a standard. Me? I’d not worry about compatibility and just pick the best format. If it’s not compatible with current DVD drives so what? Does that mean that future drives are incompatible also? Of course not. If I was king of the world this stupid format war would of been over a long time ago. :8

This DVD format war would have been over long time ago, if it was not for greed, money, market share, licensing fees, ETC. I can’t believe os makers, application makers, game maker and other hardware makers did not get involved long time ago and put end to this incompatibility issue.

TBZ:it’s not that simple, I’m afraid. Remember the VCR days? There where three formats, Video2000 (Philips), Betamax (Sony) and VHS (JVC). Video2000 was far superior, followed by Betamax and last came VHS, but VHS made it anyway.

It’s not that big of a deal now the dual format recorders are appearing. But i sure hope they only have one recordable format for blue ray.
