Dual Layer Sucks

vbimport

#1

So I have seen that a lot of people have had the same problems.
And that is Imgburn + Dual Layer = 40% failure rate around 50% mark,
thats the case for me anyway.

I have heard that Verbatim DL DVDs will make the difference but i doubt that.

is there an answer to this, because I am wasting a bunch of DL dvds

I think it has a lot to do with what layer break position you use. And I know pretty much what to choose but what i am looking for is if someone finally found an answer for this.

*If it is a must, I will post a log.

Verbatim +R DL 2.4X made in Singapore does make a difference as well as how well your machine is maintained.
Good quality discs along with many other factors will create good burns.
Keeping programs running in the background to a minimum, having a properly defragged hard drive, a clean registry, proper cables, a good burner with updated firmware and a good amount of free ram are some of the things to consider.
Edit:
I almost forgot about multi-tasking. While some may not have a problem with this, it is not wise to multi-task.
And yes, please post a log file.

also what blank disks u using and burner + firmware etc ?

#4

Yes, please post a log.

And you’d be surprised at what a difference Verbatim can make regarding DL discs.
not if u got the right burner ;)
Yes, some of my burners (Samsung, LiteOn) will complete burns of non-Verbatim DL successfully…but often playback is still another story.

ImgBurn is a burning engine, you do everything right leading up to starting the burn, it won’t fail you. 95% of the time, it’s not the program that fails.

Crap media and too fast burn speed setting.

#11

Sorry for all the failed retrys but i lost it there for a while.

I use a Memorex burner MRX-530LE and Memorex discs…

go figure, I thought they would work since they were akin.

#12

How do I slow it down?

#13

Just before you click on the Write button, change the speed in the drop down box on your lower right.
Also a firmware upgrade to 5M65 could help.
http://www.mediafire.com/?9h0dfmtnx3x

#14

well the lower Write speed worked. I put it all the way down to 3X. Took a while, but it worked.

#15

(Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

Don’t see 3X, 2.4X or 4X should be good, but as said crappy media.

#16

What exacly is the media? the burner or the discs?

#17

Discs.

#18

all I know is that Dialysis1 is a genius,
I am now 4/4 since changing write speed.

#19

Don’t count on these Memorex disks lasting a long time, even if you did manage to get them to burn. You should switch over to Verbatim for dual layer, as others have already mentioned.

#20

yes my next batch will definitely be Verbatim,

thanks to everyone for the big help
