From looking at scans on the forum I got an impression that DVDs burned with DRW-24B1LT have better scans than those burned with DRW-24B1ST (http://club.myce.com/f87/results-discussion-asus-24b1st-24b1lt-308313/, results for MCC media with firmware 1.03). But there are not enough scans to draw a decisive conclusion.

Is DRW-24B1LT indeed better than DRW-24B1ST? If yes - what is the reason (better chpiset, better build)?

Sorry, I misplaced one important digit: I meant “DRW-24B1LT vs. DRW-24B1ST”, not “DRW-20B1LT vs. DRW-20B1ST”

Hard to say. The B1ST is based on the iHAS324 and the B1LT is based on the iHAS424.
