DRW-24B1LT becomes very hot when reading

When DRW-24B1LT reads DVDs, it becomes very hot (I would say about 60-70C), and you can hear that disk is spinning very quickly - you could even feel small wind near the drive. In addition, it gets very loud.

Is it normal for current burners? Until now I used BENQ’s DW1620, and it never got so hot, and was quit as well.

All 3 of my DRW-24B1LT’s cross-flashed into Liteon’s and even my DRW-24B1ST in the
external enclosure are kind of loud when reading or ripping a DVD and run a little warm
so I don’t think it is anything to get worried about. :disagree:

How warm do they get? Does the disk becomes warm as well? I am afraid that the heat may cause damage to the disk…

Yes it does get very hot but all modern day DVD drives will do that to a DVD so
nothing to get worried about as the disc can take quite a bit of heat before any
thing happens to it. :iagree:

Even my old Samsung DVD burner would get the disc very, very, very, hot, hot
enough that when it first came out of the drive it was hard to hold onto but I
never experienced any problems with the discs afterwords. :disagree:
