DRW 1004IM Question

Hello,

i’m wondering, since some time i’m using cd-r’s from the same Manufacturer, Philips ( Ritek Co. ). ( Cakebox with 50 cd-r’s )

Now when i’m burning the speed is increasing normaly till 40x, but when around 60% are burned the speed drops down to 24x or 16x ( the sound of the drive get’s very high ) and stays there till the end.

Now, this is happening from firmware v038 till the new v051 and it doesn’t seem to damage the cd-r because all burned cd’s are ok.

But i still would like to know:

  1. Is that normal since i don’t remember anything about the drive having something like Lite-On’s Smart-Burn, which controls the quality of the cd-r
while burning and changes the speed accordingly ?

  2. Does somebody else have the same thing happining to him ?

greetings
Guyver111

P.S.: Sorry for any errors in my writing, im german

Can you post the graph from Nero CD Speed? It sounds like your computer is more than fast enough to not have a buffer underrun error.

It’s no buffer underrun error, the buffers are full, and the grapf of the burner speed rises stady till the 46-48 minute, then it goes down to 6x and rises till 16x or 24x.

The graph looks perfect, but that is a read test. Does this error happen with a different type of media as well?

Using Nero CdSpeed, rerun the test doing the write tests and post. It sounds like something is cutting in an d interrupting the flow of data, perhaps a program in the background.

The first disc is a Philips CD-R ( Ritek Co. )

as your seeing the burner goes down to exact speeds like 32x 24x 16x, i would think the burner uses something like smart burn from Lite-On
