Hey,
A few days ago I did my fortnightly reboot. Seemed to go as usual, until Windows booted up. My DVD Writer had…vanished!
I rebooted and noticed that it was detected as the primary master on the POST screen, so I let windows load again. I checked the device manager, and saw this:
I went to the NEC website and found they only offer the Windows 3.xx drivers, while stating that on other Windows OS’s, you don’t need a driver.
I’ve tried System Restore - I went back, firstly to friday. It didn’t change. Then to Thursday. Same again…
The device status (right click on the device in the device manager -> properties) is:
“Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.”
Any ideas how I could fix it? (Without a format)
Thanks
(Sorry about posting it here too - I’ve had no replies in the other board )
