I have an IBM Thinkpad t60 with a Matshita DVD UJ 842 - one day I couldn't access the drive - I downloaded a driver from Levono - but it didn't help. I have tried changing the registry CD Drive/Volume from 3 to 2 - to get the recording tab - but then the drive will not recognize any type of CD-RW disk. I think I had the incorrect driver - I have been searching and searching for a Matishita driver - any ideas?
Welcome to the forum
Does the drive appear in Device Manager at all, perhaps with a yellow exclamation mark?
The drive doesn't have an exclamation point - but the Primary IDE does
Can you post a screenshot of your Device Manager?
I'd like to know if your Matshita is on the Primary IDE.
Also, when you click Properties, is there an error code?
I'm having trouble trying to post a screen shot - I can email you a word document with the screen shot - Properties shows an error code 12 - This device can not find enough resources. I also noticed that the device manager shows IOMEGA drives which I don't have - I think I loaded them accidently and then tried to remove them.
Device Manager.doc (80.5 KB)
I have the same problem with device manager showing a problem with a problem and error message: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" Uninstalling and reinstalling the Driver doesn't help-programs like Driver Detective give driver an OK.
