I installed xp and now neither of my cd drives work properly. I have a sony pc with the following 2 cd drives: (1) pioneer dvd-rom dvd-116r (2)sony cd-rw crx160e. Both cds read data, but thats all that they do. The pioneer dvd does not work, it needs a decoder, and the sony does not write cds. Can anyone help me as to where I can obtain these drivers.
You probably need an ASPI layer for the writer as XP doesn’t come with one as standard, usually this is for SCSI drives though but it should fix you prob
Try this address
For the DVD problem I thought WINXP could play DVD’s but try downloading a software player (powerDVD or WinDVD) and see whether the problem disappears.
Hope this helps a bit
The error I get when I put a DVD in the drive: Windows media player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
Try powerdvd then
