Drive is dead

Hi everyone. I have pretty much accepted that my burner is dead, but I just wanted to ask anyway if anyone has had a similar experience and found a fix. I was updating the firmware on my LG GSA-4160A dvd burner this morning when I experienced a power failure. When I restarted my computer it didn’t recognize the burner anymore, there were no power lights and the cd tray wont eject. So it’s basically just a piece of junk now. I was just wondering if there is a way to fix this, or not. If not, then I’ll have to buy a new one soon.

If anyone can help me, I’d appreciate it.

It depends on whether the drive can still be detected by the BIOS. If not, that’s the end of the line for that drive.

There are some lower level recovery tools for mis-flashed drives with certain brands of DVD writers/DVD ROM drives. Unfortunately, AFAIK, none exists for LG stuff.

Sounds like the big skip in the sky for that one, mate.
