Dreamweaver 4 question?

I hope this is the right section, i have been using Dreamweaver 4 to create my web pages for some time now.

The problem is i am using a dns redirect no-ip.com to direct users to my page, the thing is when i update my website pages normally ppl would have to hit the Refresh key to see my updated pages but with redirect dns services if u hit refresh it goes back to the index page.

Is there a way u can tell DW4 to auto refresh a page every time it is accessed maybe by Java script or something and does DW have it or is there a site i could download a JS from.

Tia for any help u can give me.

Insert this between your <HEAD>
<meta http-equiv=“Content-Type” content=“text/html; charset=iso-8859-1”>
<meta http-equiv=“refresh” content=“0”>

It’s in Dreamweaver as well, look at the “head” tab. :slight_smile:

Oh brilliant buddy thanx very much 4 this tip i will give it a try.

:slight_smile: :slight_smile:

In Dreamweaver i went to the Insert Menu scrolled down to Head Tags and then Selected Refresh.

Now the page constantly refreshes where would i place this command so that it refreshes only once every time the a user select that particular page?

Woops… Make sure it refreshes ‘onLoad’. Then it will only refresh when a user loads the page…

Thanx Airhead could u explain that in a bit more detail because although i have been using DW for a couple of months now i am still only a novice and i am trying to learn the more complex feature of DW. Thanx.

I see, now that I tried myself I could not set meta to be onLoad…
Well if you want to keep it simple you could try doing this.

You can have a blank index.html with this small code in it

<meta http-equiv=“refresh” content=“0;URL=http://www.yoursite.com/index2.html”>

Then rename your real index page to index2.html or something.

As long as people use a non-direkt link (like http://www.cdfreaks.com, not http://www.cdfreaks.com/index.php) this will forward them to the latest page.

This should work for your needs :slight_smile:

O.k thanx 4 the additional info Airhead it is really appreciated as this tool has so many features it is quite a hard one to master methinks.

Thanx again.
