Dreamcast games in GigaRec mode

Hey bro’s
I’ve tried out the gigarec function and it seems it can burn up to 1.3GB on 100min cds (1.3x) using Nero 6.6.

But I’m willing to burn some dreamcast homebrew discs using gigarec.
I made a image with bin2boot, about 900Megs of data.

But when burning with Alcohol 120% I get the following:

GigaRec isnt capable of burning multisession discs in dao mode?
Bin2boot seems the only way because the cdrecord method (with the audio.raw file) uses track-at-once.

If there’s anyone who successfully burnt a dreamcast disc using gigarec let me know:)

Thanks

No need to spam the forum. Your answer is found in the other thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s reply in this thread instead because the topic applies.

That is correct. But this is crlearly stated in Plextools and on Plextor homepage. GigaRec works only with DAO, which means disc at once, which means that the CD is no multisession.

I think you are wrong because multisession IS possible in DAO mode.
The Echelon selfboot toturial shows the TAO method using cdrecord:
Meaning you have to write a session with 4secs of audio followed by another session with a bootstrapped datatrack containing the bootfile.

But bin2boot creates a .cdi image (with 2 sessions) which can be written to a disc in DAO mode.

I burn 700Meg dreamcast (bootable multisessions) images with Alcohol120% all the time, and they both work in DAO/SAO and RAW DAO mode.

However when trying to do the same image (doesn’t matter wetter it’s bigger or smaller than 700megs) in GigaRec mode, it will fail with invalid parameter.

So Plextools must state GigaRec works only in single session dao discs right?

For completness sake: PlexTools Professional (PTP) does not support multisession (you can leave a session open but not append another one). PTP XL supports multisession.

Maybe Alcohol has problems with bigger than usual CD Images. Never tried it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have PlexTools Pro XL
But my dreamcast games are in .cdi format and PlexTools cannot burn those type of images, I only need PlexTools XL to enable the GigaRec funtion and then write my images with either DiscJuggler or Alcohol 120%.

Maybe someone with a GigaRec capable burner could try to write this image for me in GigaRec mode with DiscJuggler or Alcohol 120% in DAO mode.

http://akelo.ath.cx/~mastag/image.cdi 3.48Megs
It’s a small test image created by bin2boot and it will fit on a cdrw.

Just to test wetter it can be burned in GigaRec mode or not.

I have currently no access to the rig with my Premium. I can do it no sooner than in 3 weeks.

It’s ok bro:)
Thanks for supporting me
