If your computer is a bit older, then you will probably want a burner with the older style IDE interface. This Sony/Optiarc model at mwave.com would be a good choice: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA73210 You would need to be in the US to buy from mwave though. Where are you located?
There are also other good burners from LG and Pioneer that might fit your needs.
Choice of media is also important. We recommend Verbatim 16x speed blank dvds which can be found online, or in local shops like Best Buy . If you want cds instead of dvds, then my recommendation is to buy Taiyo Yuden. You can find them online at rima.com or supermediastore.com among a few other places. TY cds can still be found occasionally at local shops under the Maxell Pro series brand...look on the label and see where they were manufactured to make sure. Taiyo Yuden is only made in Japan.
By the way, many downloaded films and music files from the torrents are copyright protected and by the rules of the forum we cannot help with copying them. Not all torrented material is illegal though, and we give our members the benefit of a doubt until proved otherwise.
