Click here to see full specs[/qanda]OK, so first of all I am new here so let Me start by saying Hello and introduce Myself; I am Feadrah and I am glad to be able to have the opportunity to ask what is probably a" Duh "question for most of you, or at least the ones who’ll have the answer, but OK So here goes. My PC came equipped with an "Optiarc DVD = RW AD-5170S and I can record data of any kind onto any type of CD disks (CD,CDR,CDRW etc) But for the life of Me, I can’t figure out how to record stuff onto a DVD disk of any type! Is it even possible to record on DVD disks with this Make and Model DVD device? So any one who can help Me out with the If, How and Where’s My question is answered and any other info that may be of help will GREATLY be appreciated  I admit I leaped right into asking My question with out reading all the do’s and don’ts first and if leaving an email to submit your useful info pertaining to My problem is not permitted I am really sorry and give Me my dues. But if it is Permitted, than OK! email your help stuff to: REMOVED EMAIL And Thanks a Bunch
Sincerely,
Feadrah

Hi feadrah and welcome,

Yes, your burner will write to dvds.

If you’re using XP, you’ll need burning software as there is no dvd burn software native to XP.

Img is outstanding burn software.

What exactly are you trying to burn? If the original dvd is copy protected, you’ll need to decrypt it first.

“Optiarc DVD = RW AD-5170S”. This drive will burn all DVD +,-R and DL(dual layer). You just need burning software.
Do not know what are you using now, but usually some basic one come with the drive itself.
Little advice.
Do not include E-Mail address in your post, it is not wise.
Hope Mod can remove it.
