Does the software you use affect the quality of the scan in the drive. I use Clone 2 and OneClickto DVD to encode and write the video. Will using Neros burning Rom give me a better scan or does make any difference at all.
If the software allows the drive’s buffer to drop to zero during recording, yes, that will affect the quality by introducing additional PI failures at (some of) the points where recording restarts, especially on -R media.
You can observe the same effect when WOPC is enabled, at power calibration points; most of them will give you single PIFs in the recording.
Anyway, if the software is able to supply an interrupted stream of data to the drive during the burn, variations in quality will be due to (mostly) the differences between individual media.
