Does Sony do it's own CDRW burners?

I’ve hear that they don’t and that they are Plextors or something.

I’ve heard that they get their drives from diferent companies and that the 52x drives can be maybe from Sanyo or maybe from whatever, you know what I mean?

I wanted to know if the 52x Sony is a good one (for “backups”) or should I just stick with LG (only two brands I can get here).
I’ve heard that LG can’t copy everything: it can do a good job, but not with latest anticopied games.

So, in resume:
¿Are all the 52x Sony drives “whatever” brand or some are this brand and some are that brand?
¿Are the Sony better than the LG for “backups”?
Thanks everyone

They are 100% Liteon, and soon the DVD burners will also be LiteOn. They have an official cooperation agreement with LiteOn.
LG is also very a very good choice, but why not have one of each?
