According to some websites, the DVD+RW format allows the user to simultaneously erase the disk and burn data on the parts which have been already erased. Is it true ? Does Nero do it automatically when writing to a DVD+RW ?
Which websites ?
Just do a quick erase which takes a few seconds and then burn what ever you want and it will automatically overwrite what you have on the disc
This, for example.
- Background formatting: while the disc is being formatted, you can simultaneously record on already-formatted portions of the same disc.
However it may refer to DVD+R. But I can’t think of formatting a recordable disk. I only know the meaning of formatting a rewritable disk.
If I’m wrong, please correct me…
Background formatting refers to a +RW disc, and you can indeed record while
formatting. Note that this just means that formatting will be paused during your
writing and will be resumed afterwards, so this is as simultaneous as a
multitasking OS can be when running on a single processor.
I have realized it by burning a Verbatim DVD+RW with Nero. The disk was formatted and then burnt.
