Does DVD+R / DVD-R matter? Are these Taiyo Yudens good to buy? (link inside)

I’m looking to buy printable DVD-R/+R and from what I’ve read, Taiyo Yuden is pretty much the best you can buy.

I’ve ordered from Super Media Store before and I’ve found a 100-pack of Taiyo Yuden for $38 but they are DVD-R. The Taiyo Yuden +R are $10 more.

Is there really a difference?

I’m using these DVD’s mostly in my Nintendo Wii and my computer, but I want the highest compatibility possible.

Here are the ones I’m thinking about buying: http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-hub-printable-8x-dvd-r-media-retail-cake-box.html

Should I get the +R version? Does it matter? Should I buy something different?

(Btw, can I print to 100% of the DVD’s surface? Most labels require printing of the inside porition as well as the outside portion…)

EDIT: I found the TY “Value Line” for $5 cheaper (http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-hub-printable-8x-dvd-r-media-100.html) Would these be safe to buy?

If it were me I would buy the +R and booktype them, but thats just my opinion, many like the dash flavor and have great success with them.:iagree:

Were I you, I’d buy from www.rima.com (same prices, better service)

They still have hub-printable 8x TY DVD’s, and for less than what you’re looking at. The 8x are easily the best DVD media you can buy, IMHO. -R is $33, +R is $38. Which is better for you is up to your burner.

The TY hub printables allow you to duplicate a full-disc label very well.

If you want some exceptional looking discs, consider the TY Watershield Glossy discs, they have the best printable surface you can buy.

Also, I’d avoid “Value-line” TY media, although some people have had good luck. It’s factory seconds, so quality can vary.
