Does anyone know what type of media this is?

Sold as Windata 8x DVD+R shows up as Yuden T02s. They are fakes (create coasters with yuden strat at all speeds)…but I was wondering if anyone has figured out what they really are…hate just to through them out. I could trick my litey drive into using a different strategy if I found this out.

thanks for any help…

I got 150 from ohio, made in hong kong, I call them clones since they aren’t billed as made in japan. Better than some media and inconsistent. You can google the company that makes them. Poor attempt at a TY mid. Mine burn 70-90QS at 8x.

Yes got mine from microcenter…yours must be better than mine, I am getting either po failures or cdspeed quals at 40-50 at best even at 4x.

have you tried 8x in the LG 4163B?

Thanks I will try that drive with these disks.

Most of these fake Taiyo Yudens is made by infosmart in Hong Kong.

Fake 8x DVD-R brands:
Bulkpaq 8x DVD-R
Budget 8x DVD-R
Mirror 8x DVD-R
Fortis 8x DVD-R
Datawrite RED 8x DVD-R
Infosmart 8x DVD-R (at least the printable version)
Hyundai 8x DVD-R
Matrix 8x DVD-R
Dupsonic 8x DVD-R
Laser 8x DVD-R
Kapi 8x DVD-R

Fake 8x DVD+R brands:
Hyundai 8x DVD+R
Mirror 8x DVD+R

Infosmart, yes. INFOSMART01 would probably be appropriate if they were -R, not sure what the +R equivalent would be.

BTW, have you tried them on your 1655 or 1620? My 1640 does very well with stock strategies with cheap +R media such as AML002, WOPC/SB off as well.

Wow my LG 4163B drive never ceases to amaze me…here is the scan from a 8x burn on these Yuden T02 Fakes…amazing for these disks!

my nec 3550 and 3540 are ok with them too, but I saved like 5C a disk over
verbatim mcc 004 and TY media

I believe the DVD+R code for InfoSmart media is “ISO 001”

I have some fake Taiyo Yuden +r’s. with the t02 code

My BenQ totally craps out on them and makes some of them unreadable, but if i use the MID ‘AML 002’ for the write strategy it writes to them alot better.

My LG 4167b on the other hand seems to enjoy writing to crappy media without changing the write strategy.

Scans:

  1. BenQ 1620 at 8x with normal t02 Strat
  2. BenQ 1620 at 8x with AML 002 Strat
  3. LG GSA-4167b at 8x with normal t02 Strat
