If your Computer Mother Board has problems with SATA Optical Drives then the Sony-NEC AD-7200S Optical Drive is a poor choice because the Sony-NEC AD-7200S Drive is a SATA Optical Drive.
Perhaps you should revisit your "Best DVD drive solely for ripping CD's?" (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/best-dvd-drive-solely-ripping-cds-261208) posting thread and review the Drives that Forum Members suggested in that thread.
For many years “True†Plextor Drives (PX-716A/PX-750A/PX-760A) were considered THE Best Audio Rippers. (Note – Any so called Plextor PX- Model after Model PX-760 is not a “True†Plextor and is manufacture by some 3rd party manufacture). Unfortunately ‘True’ Plextor Drives are no longer manufactured but occasionally ‘True’ Plextor Drives (PX-716A/PX-750A/PX-760A) are available at e B a y.
The PlexWriter Premium 2 CD Drive is still manufactured by Plextor and is available in limited quantity but it is ‘expensive’ (somewhere around 200 bucks). Where Audio is concerned the PlexWriter Premium 2 CD Drive with AMQR (Audio Mastering Quality Recording) is THE best audio mastering Drive. If you are serious about quality Audio suggest performing research on the PlexWriter Premium 2 CD Drive. I have one (purchase from e B a y) and it the only Drive I use for my CD Audio recording. Occasionally on e B a y the older PlexWriter Premium CD Drive is available at a reasonable price.
