Does anyone know anything about this “Speed firmware” for the LDW 811s that’s floating about? I’ve got a copy, but I can’t remember where I got it from?
Now that I’ve got my 811s, I want to check a few things before I test it out.
From what I remember, it allows you to burn DVD+r & DVD-r at higher speeds. ie 4x @ 8x or 2.4x @ 4x

Yeah, it’s modified to allow higher speeds than normal. You’ll probably end up wasting a few discs, but if you want to try and see if you can get away with burning faster than you’re supposed to, then go ahead…

You don’t sound too keen? What’s the chances of a “DOA”…?
what exactly do u mean by “DOA”? killing the drive? the only real risk involved in using the “speed firmware” would be having some bad burns on media that shouldn’t be written at high speeds.
