I burned a CD-RW HighSpeed ×10 using a SE-208DB directly after plugging in.
On the first 01m50s of data, even reading with computer drives gives an ugly noise. After these 110 first seconds, the noise stops suddenly and everything is back to normal.
An old SL-PJ26A CD player from 1989 plays CD-R with noise for the first few minutes. After warming up, it plays without noise. The noise decreases slowly over the first ten minutes.
Why does a disc drive need to warm up first?
