I admit I have concerns about Win XP particulary on the issue of reinstallation, MS site says you have activate whenever there’s reinstall (especially if there’s a format). So to spare myself having to do that why not copy the activation key?
So, for those of you who have activated thru internet, does it display a key for your own info. I know using telephone they’ll give a key (50 digits…wtf).
reactivating is generally not problematic at all. I think it’s enpugh to copy the wpa.dbl file in your system32 directory from your activated install and then put it on the new install if its on the same computer that is. The activation uses some kind of hardware check to identify your computer. Anyway the simplest sollution would be making a ghost of your system partition after a clean install and activation.
