After burning two “MIS Verbatim DVD+R DL” discs, and finding that both fail verification at the beginning of the second layer, I’m starting to wonder if I have fakes. They’re listed as 8x and the MID is MKM-003-00, but ImgBurn says that the discs only support 3x, 4x and 6x; and the stamp code is “ZE2305-DVR-X850B.” This stamp code is mentioned in this post, but I don’t understand any of the information given. Are they bad discs?
|EDIT| Is there any way to check the discs BEFORE I buy them next time?
I too have found big problems with the second layer. Large PE error bursts in ramdon locations all over the disk. The errors are enough to cause dropouts during stand alone playback. The disks were burned on a PLEXTOR 760A drive… not a junk drive… older DL+R verbs burn fine…its the newer stuff that’s junk. And yes, my drive reported max burn speed of 10X for the disk… no problem with the firmware… just the disk!
