DMR-EZ45V NoRead error message

Hi, My panasonic DMR-EZ45V has developed the following error message, “NoRead” with or without a DVD inserted, the VHS and SD card both work OK. It looks like the player thinks there is a DVD inserted as the Disc icon is shown on the front panel all the time. There is also a series of short buzzes and one buzz of a different tone when the player is accessing the DVD drive. Does this mean the DVD drive is broken or has the player got itself into a pickle and just needs a software reset?. I have tried turning the player off at the wall overnight but to no avail. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Same thing has just happened to me - did you get it fixed? If so how much did it cost? Unfortunately mine arrived via eBay 2 years ago so gtee is void anyway…

Or is there any other way to fix it??

Hi!
I have a simular problem with mine DMR-EH65, se tread:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/f106/big-problem-panny-dmr-eh55-252473/

After phonecontact with panasonic did I get a “reset tip” (did unfortunally not work for me, it was the laser, but maybe it works for you, it’s worth a try)

Turn off the recorder. Push channel up, stop and open/close (in that order but at the same time) for about 5-10 seconds. The display says 22:22. Disconnect the player from the net, then connect it again.

You will loose tuning, clock and timerlist but not the hdd.

Good luck!

I usually clean the DVD drive’s rubber hub at no more than eight month intervals.

See this thread for more information:

Be sure that the roller/slider at the rear of the disc tray is positioned to the far left before securing the DVD drive lid, as seen in the photo in this post:

This recent post in another forum has instructions and photos that will be helpful with disc tray realignment/reinstallation:

Earlier posts in that thread may also address your situation.

When a Panasonic is giving “no read” and there are “grinding” or “scrubbing” noises this usually indicates that the rubber hub needs cleaning.

When a Panasonic is giving “no read” and there are loud “clunking” or “chugging” noises this usually indicates that the lens is dirty or has failed. Other problems may include a failing or failed Digital PCB or some problem with the ribbon cables from the DVD Drive to the Digital PCB (on 2006 models such as the DMR-ES45V and perhaps a few other international models) or the ribbon cables to the on-board DVD Drive controller board (on 2005, 2007, 2008 models and perhaps a few other international models).
