Judging by the response it would seem not!
I bought an EH50 about 3 months ago.
I liked that the Panasonic recorded to DVD+R, and the idea of recording to the HDD at a high picture quality and archiving at a lower one (+R/+RW machines don't seem to do this) and it's Flexible Recording mode to compress a recording so that it just fits a disk ? ensuring the minimum of picture degradation.
Initially I thought that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread! the picture quality is stunning and recording to a hard drive was a revelation. Deleting adverts is a dream. I cheerfully slam it from fast-forward to rewind in ways that I would never dare with tape. An excellent machine!
I started encountering problems when I started archiving recordings to DVD. The dubbing would start then suddenly stop x minutes in, and the machine reboot before announcing "An error has occurred". This failure rate started to approach 50%.
I am still undecided whether this is down to the software or the discs I have been using. I have just received a delivery of a selection of discs, and will be working my way through them.
Maybe it's just finicky with discs?
