DMA off SH-S183a

My S183a seems to work fine. Nevertheless Nero’s infotool got me worried.
It says DMA is off and I don’t know how to enable it. Anyone? :o :o

Check this thread.

It should help you to fix this problem.

#4

Thnx but it’s no solution. This a sata drive and there is no simple way of enabling DMA
in Device Manager. By the way it’s already enabled in the Bios.
I read about a simular problem with Plextor sata drives and Intel chipsets.

Nero can only determine the DMA status of drives connected by IDE and using the standard Microsoft atapi drivers. So I suspect that you don’t actually have a problem.

Try a burst rate test with CD-DVD Speed. If it runs in UDMA mode 2 you’ll get about 23MB/s & for UDMA mode 4 about 45MB/s.

#6

You are wright. It’s even more

#7

Right ofcourse

#8

That’s some burst rate.

Maybe it’s going to be SATA for me next.

#9

Could be up to 68mb/s, hehe.
